Shelby closed its regular season with a doubleheader loss to Spring Lake Thurday, 5-3 and 17-5.
The
Tigers (25-11) tied the score at 2 in the second inning of game one by
taking advantage of some Laker miscues, but Spring Lake went ahead for
good in the fourth.
Jayna Burmeister pitched well, allowing
one earned run on six hits and striking out 10. She also blasted a
fifth-inning homer to get the team within 5-3. Izzy Rudat got two hits.
Shelby
briefly grabbed a 4-2 lead in the third inning of game two, again
taking advantage of some mistakes to do so. Jaedyn Allen's two-run
single highlighted the four-run third. Spring Lake, though, responded
with six runs in the fourth and ended the game in six innings by mercy
rule.
Allen got two hits in the game, and Jordan Wolting scored two runs.
