Reeths-Puffer closed its regular season with a 2-1 victory over
Rockford Thursday thanks to another terrific performance by senior
pitcher Lainey McDaniel.
McDaniel allowed only two hits and no earned runs in a complete-game win, striking out 10 without walking a batter.
The
Rockets (25-7) only got one hit themselves, a McDaniel single, but
parlayed it into a third-inning run to open the scoring. Madi Reichert
bunted McDaniel to second, McDaniel went to third on an error, and she
scored on a groundout by Lorelei Herrygers.
In the fourth, R-P
added another run when Carlie Guikema walked, reached second on a
fielder's choice, and came around to score on a Rockford error.
