Knit & Spin celebrates grand reopening in Montague

MONTAGUE — A much-beloved shop for White Lake’s fiber-arts community has found a new location on Water Street in downtown Montague. Knit & Spin celebrated its grand reopening Tuesday morning, a celebration shared with over a dozen excited patrons and supporters.
Knit & Spin, offering a wide variety of luxury yarn and fiber-arts tools, was purchased by Floyd Peplinski in 2025 from founder Leanne VanOverbeke in early 2025, following five years of business in Montague. With the addition of son Paul, the business venture has become a whole family undertaking spanning three generations.
Knit & Spin offers classes throughout the year, and space for crafters to gather and work during shop hours. Outside of the Peplinski family, the shop is buoyed by a rich crafting community in Muskegon County, partnering with artisans and local fiber vendors to stock the shop and teach their craft to the next generation.
The packed reopening commenced with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and attendees were invited to gather, shop and enjoy some cake as they perused the offerings. Several regular crafters sat right away in their designated chairs in their new dedicated gathering space, beautifully furnished at the far end of the shop, and got right to work on their projects. The new storefront is only steps away from the old one, but the new Knit & Spin is bigger and brighter, and its inviting atmosphere make it the perfect place for beginners and experts alike to share their love of fiber-arts and hands-on crafting.
