Shelby dominated Friday's home game with Kent City and put away an 8-0 win by mercy rule, with the game stopping at halftime.
"(We) came out firing on all cylinders, and were able to put an immense amount
of pressure on the Eagle defense," Shelby coach Joe Gorton said. "The scoring chances were fast and
furious, and we quickly put a couple in the back of the net."
Annabelle
Stark had two goals for the Tigers (5-1-1), who spread the wealth
throughout the game as it became clear they would be able to create
plenty of opportunities. Brixtyn Friedman accounted for two assists and
scored her first varsity goal in the final minute to polish off the win.
Ari Garza, Lydia Soelberg, Kylie Brown, Kylee Hanson and Olivia Rogers also found the net for Shelby in the win.
"The
girls played very well after a long week, and I was most impressed by
their unselfishness and their willingness to contribute in different
ways as we sought to mix up the lineup as the game progressed," Gorton said. "Their
excitement for their teammates was contagious."
