Hesperia earned its first two wins of the season Friday, sweeping White Cloud 2-1 and 13-6 in a doubleheader.
The
Panthers won a dramatic game one when Gabby Tanner hit a game-winning
RBI single in the sixth and final inning. It was Tanner's second hit of
the game; her other hit was a double.
Tanner also pitched the
game and pitched well, allowing only five hits and one run. She struck
out one and her team played errorless defense behind her.
Hesperia's
bats caught fire in game two, scoring five third-inning runs to take
the lead for good. Olivia McGahan's two-run double capped the outburst.
Madesyn Bolles had two hits, one of them a double, for Hesperia in the
win, and McGahan drove in three runs in all. Tanner drove in two and got
her second win of the day in the circle.
