Pentwater boys track team takes 5th at Mesick jamboree; Fatura, Walkerville's Babbin continue strong seasons

Pentwater set 17 new personal bests as a team Tuesday at the Mesick jamboree, and the Falcon boys finished in fifth place.
In the girls' meet, Walkerville edged Pentwater for seventh place.
Logan Fatura earned the Falcons' only win of the day by throwing the discus 133-10. He added a second-place finish in shot put with a mark of 41-10.75.
Chase McGuire-VanGills added a pair of second-place finishes for the Falcons in the hurdles events, and he set PRs in both of them, with times of 18.10 seconds in the 110 meters and 44.67 seconds in the 300.
"His consistency and drive have been huge for the Falcons," Pentwater coach Erika Fatura said of the sophomore.
In the girls' meet, Isabel Babbin continued her strong season for Walkerville with a victory in shot put, scoring all 10 of her team's points. She recorded a mark of 30-3.75.
Lauren Davis scored Pentwater's best finish in the girls' meet by placing fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 30.10 seconds. The 800 relay team of Lila Merrill, Bailey Case, Lexi Smith and Karina Olivarez also took fifth (2:10.4).
