Hart track teams romp over Shelby in Holton Tri

Hart's teams rolled past Shelby Tuesday as part of a sweep at the Holton Tri.
The Pirate boys romped over Shelby 118-14 and defeated Holton 118-18. In the girls' meet, Hart beat Shelby 91-32 and beat Holton 99-21.
Shelby's girls team defeated Holton 68-32, while the Tiger boys lost 72-50.
The Pirate boys won all but one event. Chase Lorenz ran the 800-meter run for the first time for Hart and came out on top with a time of 2:04.8, edging teammate Trevor Vander Kodde by less than a second. Lorenz also won the 100-meter dash in a time of 11.26 seconds.
Donald Budrew brought a highlight to the day with a personal best in the 1,600-meter run, winning the race in a time of 4:56.9. Luke VanderWilk joined Lorenz as a two-time individual winner, nabbing the top spot in both high jump (5-6) and the 110-meter hurdles (19.22).  Bryce Vander Kodde won two events as well, winning the 200 meters (24.62) and the long jump (17-4).
Other individual winners for Hart included Jaxson Oomen in the 400 meters (53.95); Carson Ackley in the 3,200 (10:55.3); Pablo Ortega-Rubio in the 300-meter hurdles (45.06); Jose Torres in the shot put (38-1); and Jagger Lenon in the pole vault (11-6).
Hart won all four relays too. The 400-meter team was Lyric Fielder, Elon Babbin, Lorenz and Ortega-Rubio (45.57), and the 800 team was Babbin, Ortega-Rubio, Bryce Vander Kodde and Oomen (1:37.5). The 1,600 team was Jack Slotman, VanderWilk, Ortega-Rubio and Oomen (3:40.5), and the 3,200 team was Trason Tucker, Carsten Udell, Juan Guardiola-Parra and Cole Slotman (9:54.4).
The Pirate girls also rolled behind a pair of two-time individual winners. Ellie Gross took wins in both hurdles events with times of 18.66 in the 100 meters and 53.74 seconds in the 300 meters. Addison Hain swept the 100 and 200 meters, with times of 13.38 and 28.71 seconds respectively.
Other winners were Alaina Schaner in the 800 meters (2:39.8); Natalie Rosema in the 1,600 (5:41.9); Shelbie Choponis in the discus (109-3); and Lauren Hopkins in the pole vault (8-6).
For Shelby, Casey Lamblin won the discus in the boys' meet, the only event Hart did not win. Lamblin recorded a personal best throw of 134-5.
The Tiger girls won three events. Peyton Rapes took first in the shot put (28-7), Haylie Smith set a personal best to win the high jump (4-10), and Nova Gottschalk won the long jump (13-1.5).
