McKenna Fraser, Logan Fatura win events for county teams at MCC Carferry Invitational

Three county teams competed at Friday's Lake Michigan Carferry Invitational at Mason County Central, which featured several larger schools and 14 schools in total.
Hesperia's girls team had the highest overall finish in the county, taking 10th place, followed by Shelby in 12th and Pentwater in 13th. On the boys' side, Shelby placed 11th, Pentwater was 12th and Hesperia finished 14th.
McKenna Fraser starred for the Panther girls, earning the win in high jump with a personal best leap of 5-1. Emily McCallum added a third-place finish in shot put with a mark of 31-8.5.
Nate Ruhstorfer picked up the Hesperia boys' best finish, coming in fourth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 17.42 seconds.
For Shelby, Casey Lamblin led the boys with a third-place finish in discus, recording a throw of 130-3. Elijah Dashiell added a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter dash, in a time of 54.28 seconds.
The Tiger girls earned two third-place finishes. Noel Parker was third in the 1,600-meter run, setting a personal best of 6:02.6, and she joined April Luna, Grace Hasenbank and Kathryn Beyer to take third in the 3,200 relay, with a time of 11:38.97.
Logan Fatura had an excellent day for Pentwater, recording a win in discus with a throw of 134-2. Chase McGuire-VanGills took sixth in the 300 hurdles to score the Falcons' other points in the meet, with a time of 45.24 seconds.
Bailey Case topped Falcon girls' finishers with a fourth-place in the 3,200-meter run, posting a time of 14:01.1. She joined with Maggie Jorissen, Anaviolet Jeruzal and Michelle Smith to take fifth in the 3,200 relay (13:27.5).
Coach Erika Fatura reported that the Falcon team set seven personal bests in the meet.
"This group continues to prove that no matter the size of the meet or the competition, they belong," Fatura said. "They compete with heart, support one another, and keep pushing for improvement every time they step on the track."
