Hart's girls team finished a solid fourth place out of 20 schools
at Friday's Kent City Elite Invitational, and the Pirate boys took
ninth, only 11 points out of a top-5 spot.
On the boys' side,
it was another huge meet for Chase Lorenz, who over the previous week
set Hart school records in all three sprint events. Lorenz won both the
100 and 200-meter races Friday, with a school record time of 22.01
seconds in the 200 and a time of 11.25 seconds in the 100.
Lorenz
also anchored the 1,600 relay team that provided Hart's other top-3
finish, in third place. He ran the fastest leg of the four runners,
which also included Lyric Fielder, Luke VanderWilk and Jack Slotman.
Together the quartet had a time of 3:28.8.
Pirate sophomore
Joselyn Flores brought home the girls' lone individual win, in high
jump, with a mark of 5-0. Shelbie Choponis added a runner-up finish in
discus with a throw of 111-4.
Addison Hain rounded out Hart's top-3 finishes with a third-place in the 100-meter dash, with a time of 13.41 seconds.
