The Shelby girls highlighted local team results in Tuesday's West Michigan Conference Rivers jamboree in Holton, taking second place.
The Tiger boys finished fourth. Hesperia's boys placed seventh, while the girls could not score as a team.
The Tigers had three top-10 finishers in the girls' race, all finishing consecutively, and all five of their scoring runners set season best times. Noel Parker took fourth place in a time of 20:57.7, followed by Lydia Soelberg in fifth (21:33.7) and Kathryn Beyer in sixth (22:42.6). Also for Shelby, Ava Lamberg finished 20th (26:51.5) and Michelle Peterson was 22nd (27:08.2).
Shelby's boys put two runners in the top 10, with Parker Weirich coming in fourth place (17:58.4) and Brycen Brown right behind him in fifth (18:00.3). Jaciel Moreno placed 23rd for Shelby (20:29.1) and Emilio Bustos was 35th (23:14.7). Jackson Sines closed the scoring in 39th place (24:08.6).
Onyx Davila paced the Panther boys with a 14th-place finish and a time of 19:32.6. Zed Bierman (21:20.9) and Tony Lopez-Garcia (21:22.6) finished back to back in 28th and 29th place. Drea Slosman finished 32nd (22:37.8) and Paul Winchel was 36th (23:33.8).
Hesperia had three girls finishers: Rokhaya Rustorfer in 19th place (26:32.5), Amelia Hutson in 34th (35:25.8) and Sarah Funk in 38th (43:58.8).
