Hart racked up a slew of medals Tuesday at the West Michigan
All-Star meet, which took place at Fruitport, including event titles for
Chase Lorenz and Carson Ackley.
Lorenz grabbed first place in
the 400-meter dash, posting a time of 49.76 seconds, and was also third
in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.11 seconds. Ackley won the
3,200-meter run in a time of 10:18.8 - edging out his brother Silas, who
was runner-up, by less than a second. Julian Lopez was Hart's third
medalist in the 3,200, taking sixth place and setting a personal best
(10:28.8).
The Pirate boys also grabbed two top-6 medals in
the pole vault, with Jagger Lenon placing fourth (11-6) and Grant Ackley
in sixth (10-6). Two relay teams medaled; the 1,600 team of Jack
Slotman, Luke VanderWilk, Trevor Vander Kodde and Jaxson Oomen was third
(3:33.5), and the 3,200 team of Mason Opalewski, Grant Ackley, Vander
Kodde and Donald Budrew placed sixth (8:29.3).
Hart also
scored several medals in the girls' meet, led by Bryn Riley's personal
best time of 12:58.5 earning a fourth-place finish. Lauren Hopkins took
fifth in the pole vault (8-6) and Addison Hain was fifth in the 100
(13.13). Natalie Rosema finished sixth in the 800 (2:27.3).
Three
girls relay teams picked up medals. The 3,200 relay team of Alaina
Schaner, Luisa VanderZwaag, Martina Saenz and Emma Miller took fourth
(10:36.5), and the 400 and 800 teams, both consisting of Hain, Joselyn
Flores, Rosema and Ellie Gross, were fifth (52.37 and 1:52.7).
Hesperia
took home two medals at the meet, with Emily McCallum in third place in
the shot put (32-10) and McKenna Fraser in fifth in the high jump
(5-10).
Pentwater also had two medalists. Falcon sophomore
Chase McGuire-VanGills delivered his best career race in the 300-meter
hurdles to take fourth place (42.10), and Logan Fatura placed fifth in
the discus (133-4). Though she didn't medal, Lauren Davis earned
applause from coach Erika Fatura for her efforts getting to compete one
last time as a Falcon. She took 13th in the 100 hurdles (18.39) and
narrowly missed breaking her own school record in the event.
"Tonight was a beautiful ending to a phenomenal career, and Lauren leaves
behind a legacy that will not be forgotten," coach Fatura said. "She will be deeply missed."
Isabel Babbin represented Walkerville and competed in the shot put, where she finished 10th (29-11).
