Pentwater senior Logan Fatura took down his own school record in
discus Wednesday at the first West Michigan D League jamboree of the
season in Marion, topping it by almost 10 feet.
Fatura won the event with a throw of 144-1, surpassing his mark of 134-4 that he set at the state finals last May.
As
a team, the Falcon boys finished sixth, a half-point behind Bear Lake.
Walkerville and Pentwater's girls tied for seventh place, and the
Wildcat boys also took seventh.
Fatura completed a sweep of the throws with a win in shot put to go with his record in discus, recording an attempt of 43-6.5.
Chase
McGuire-VanGills picked up a second-place finish in long jump (18-5)
and was third in the 300-meter hurdles (44.9), setting personal bests in
both events. The Falcons had 10 PRs in all.
The Falcon girls' top finish came from Lexi Smith, who was fourth in high jump (4-6).
Walkerville
performed well in both shot put events. Isabel Babbin scored the win in
the girls' shot put and set a personal best of 31-2, and Hugh Tanner
recorded the boys' best finish by coming in third in the same event,
setting his own personal best of 37-6.5.
