It was announced Thursday that the Muskegon Conservation District was one of 27 organizations to receive a share of $98,400 in grant funding from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, DTE Energy Foundation and ReLeaf Michigan. The grant money is intended to help grow the Michigan tree canopy.
The MCD received $4,000, tied for the largest amount awarded in this round of grants. Statewide, over 900 trees will be planted in public spaces – including streets, parks and community gathering areas – in fall 2026 and spring 2027 as part of these funded projects. This marks the 30th year the DNR has collaborated with DTE Energy Foundation and ReLeaf Michigan on the program.
