Steven Lewis Hoffman

It is with deep sadness that the family of Steven Lewis Hoffman, age 83, announces his passing on October 1, 2026.
Steve was born on August 27, 1943, in Shelby, Michigan, to Ellen Stevens and Lewis Hoffman. He lived a life defined by hard work, dedication, friendship, and love for his family. Steve proudly served his country in the United States Navy, where he worked as an electrician. Following his military service, he continued his trade as a Union Electrician, building a respected career that spanned many years until his retirement. His strong work ethic, reliability, and craftsmanship left a lasting impression on all who worked alongside him.
Outside of work, Steve found great joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved to fish and enjoyed hunting, gardening, and canning the harvest from his garden. He took pride in crafting his own beer and wine and loved sharing both with friends while enjoying good conversation and laughter. One of his favorite pastimes was playing cribbage with his good friend, George, creating many fond memories over the years.
Steve was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Hoffman, and by his parents, Ellen Stevens and Lewis Hoffman. Steve leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory forever, including his daughter, JoAnn Armstrong; his grandchildren, Clint (Jeanette) Clark, Tara (Steve) Rosander, Brianna (Ryan) Friend, Kaylee Hoffman, Cameron Hoffman, and Sierra (Max) Mickelson; and his great-grandchildren, Adam, Kayla, Haley, Monica, Tristan, Faith, Kieran, Onyx, Olivia, Ellouise, and Huk.
Steve will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his generous spirit, his sense of humor, and his ability to find happiness in the company of friends and loved ones. His legacy lives on through the family he loved and the countless lives he touched throughout his 83 years.
Though Steve has left this world, the memories he created and the lessons he shared will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
"Those we love don't go away. They walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near; still loved, still missed, and forever dear."
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2026, at the American Legion, 803 E. Colby St., Whitehall, Michigan.
