Hart didn't have much luck slowing down an imposing Ludington attack Friday night, dropping a 42-6 decision to the unbeaten West Michigan Conference Lakes champions.
The Orioles piled up 429 offensive yards, 231 of them in the air, as they cruised to the win. Hart, meanwhile, managed 183 total yards, turning the ball over three times.
Hart (2-5, 1-5 WMC Lakes) looked like it might get to the halftime locker room with a manageable deficit when Keaghan Monroe grabbed a 39-yard touchdown reception from Kolton Rockwell with 1:22 to go in the first half to make it 14-6. However, the Orioles' first two plays of the drive went for a total of 57 yards, and the third play ended with an unnecessary roughness penalty on the Pirates. That allowed Ludington to get another score on the board to make it 21-6.
From there, the Orioles took over with three second-half touchdowns.
Haegan Hansen had a good night on the ground for the Pirates, gaining 105 yards on 15 carries, and also caught two passes for 32 yards. Rockwell had 61 passing yards, including the touchdown.
Hansen led the way on defense too, with nine solo tackles, including one for a loss, and seven assists. Jordan Thies had six takedowns.
