On Wednesday, Oct. 21 at Montague’s Book Nook and Java Shop, Montague resident Sally Whitbeck will talk about her unforgettable experiences aboard a 37-foot sailboat she and her husband sailed around the globe for four years. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with an informal meet and greet with Whitbeck prior to the presentation at 6.
Whitbeck’s compelling story-telling style will bring to life how the couple overcame language barriers, received warm welcomes from complete strangers, learned ancient customs and made forever-friends while harbored in small ports and remote villages largely untouched by the outside world.
Whitbeck chronicled the first year of their expedition in her newly-released memoir Pass the Kava, Reflections of a Sailing Circumnavigator.
The evening is free and open to everyone. Reservations are not needed.
The authors’ books are available to purchase at the Book Nook.
This event is the last in the fall series of author visits sponsored by the Friends of the Montague Library and hosted at the Book Nook and Java Shop on Ferry Street in Montague.
