Shelby split a doubleheader with Whitehall Wednesday, bouncing back for a 9-7 win in game two after dropping game one 3-1.
The
Tigers went ahead for good in the fifth inning of the nightcap, scoring
twice, then added two more runs in the sixth. Those runs came in handy
when Whitehall rallied with two runs of their own in the bottom of the
sixth.
Hali Hayes got two hits for Shelby in the win, and
Jayna Burmeister scored three times. Jordan Wolting got the win,
allowing two earned runs on five hits.
Game one was a
pitcher's duel, with only seven total hits by the two teams. Whitehall
scored once each in the first three innings to win it. Wolting and Emma
Stovall each got two hits for Shelby.
