Shelby lost a non-conference tilt to Muskegon Catholic Tuesday, 4-2, on a very windy night on the pitch.
The
Tigers (7-5-2) trailed 3-0 at halftime and battled back, but couldn't
get closer than two goals. Nicole Ortiz scored Shelby's first goal of
the game on an assist by Kylee Hanson, and Hanson scored the Tigers'
second goal.
Keeper Brylee Friedman made seven saves.
Shelby
coach Joe Gorton felt his team did well to limit offensive chances for
the Crusaders, but the visitors proved to be efficient in converting the
ones they got.
"Games
against physical opponents like this will continue to push us to grow
as we head towards districts in a few weeks," Gorton said. "We continue to learn and
push to get better, and the lessons from this contest won't be wasted."
