Pentwater golf wins WMD title; Bode Powell earns medalist honors at finals

Pentwater pulled out a big win at the West Michigan D League finals meet at its home Golden Sands course Tuesday, outscoring Grand Traverse Academy by 22 strokes, 321-343 to break a tie between the teams atop the conference and bring home the title.
"Congratulations to all who helped pull the team from their tied position into a win," Pentwater coach Alicia Kolenda said.
Bode Powell did some of the heavy lifting for the Falcons Tuesday, earning medalist honors for the final with a 73, including two birdies. The finish secured him a second-place spot in the overall individual standings.
Three more Falcons earned top-5 placements, with Edgar Vazquez shooting an 82 and Brody Austin and Gavin Macher each shooting an 83. Izzabella Kolenda shot an 85 to take seventh.
