Reeths-Puffer got itself ready for the postseason over the weekend
with a trip to Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids for a two-day event. The
Rockets finished 15th of the 16 teams who competed in both rounds, with a
total team score of 732. The team improved its score by 24 strokes from
day one (378) to day two (354).
"There was a stacked field, with many of the top teams and players in the state there," R-P coach Matt Pallett said.
Kristian
Brown led the way for the Rockets, posting scores of 82 both days. He
scored three total birdies in the tournament, two on day one and another
on day two.
Ian Vokal was the No. 2 scorer for the Rockets
both days, with a 96 on day one and an 88 on day two. Vokal scored a
birdie in his second round.
On day one, Beckett Mathes scored
for the team with a 98, and Beckitt Johnson rounded it out for R-P with a
102. Johnson also scored for the Rockets on day two, shooting a 90.
Freshman Bentley Bennett earned his first team score contribution on day two, shooting a career-best 94.
"He
has been steadily improving and he handled himself really well in his
first big varsity event," Pallett said of Bennett, who was called up due
to a couple of Rockets being unavailable to play in the event.
