Fatura, Babbin represent county with event wins at WMD track finals

Pentwater and Walkerville each won an event at the West Michigan D League championship meet Tuesday at Mason County Eastern, and the Falcon teams each finished in sixth place. The Walkerville girls added an eighth-place finish.
The Falcons' Logan Fatura and the Wildcats' Isabel Babbin each took first in a throwing event to highlight county finishes. Fatura won the discus with a throw of 121-7, and Babbin took first in the shot put with a personal best mark of 31-7.
Pentwater added four third-place finishes in the boys' meet, earning honorable mention all-conference in those events. Fatura took third in the shot put (37-9) and Tyler Zimmer was third in the pole vault (9-6). Pentwater also had two third-place relay teams, both consisting of Fatura, Zimmer, Jacobo Martin and Chase McGuire-VanGills. The quartet had a time of 49.78 seconds in the 400-meter relay and a time of 1:44.8 in the 800 relay.
Lauren Davis and Lexi Smith had the Falcon girls' highest individual finishes, each placing fourth. Smith was fourth in the high jump (4-6) and Davis was fourth in the 100 hurdles (18.63).
The Wildcat boys' top finish was by Nathaniel Peterson, who was eighth in the discus with a personal best 82-7.
