Shelby opened its competitive cheer season Thursday with an
impressive first-place finish among the three Division 3-4 squads on the
mat at the Mona Shores Invitational, scoring 611.68 points.
The Tigers beat second-place Montague by 40 points. Oakridge finished third.
Shelby
was the only one of the three small-school teams not to be assessed
penalty points, and easily had the highest score among those squads in
both rounds one and two. The Tigers scored 198.7 points in the first
round and 187.38 in the second.
