Reeths-Puffer and Montague each finished second in their respective
divisions Thursday in the season-opening Mona Shores Invitational.
The
Rockets scored 698.78 points, finishing 21.58 points behind first-place
Mona Shores, and Montague had 571.5 points to take second in the
small-school division behind Shelby.
R-P actually outscored
Shores in the second round, 213.28-210.24, but eight penalty points
knocked the Rockets back into the No. 2 position for the round. R-P was
also close behind Shores in round one, totaling 221.8 points to the
Sailors' 227.4.
Montague outscored first-place Shelby in the
final round, racking up 234.6 points to the Tigers' 225.6. They were
second of the three small-school teams in scoring in each of the first
two rounds.
