Despite Pentwater's gutsy effort against first-place Marion in West Michigan D League play Wednesday night, the Falcons came up a bit short of victory, losing 50-37.
Pentwater (1-3, 0-2 WMD) struggled to break the Eagle press defense throughout the first half, falling behind 27-13 at the break. However, the Falcons were able to keep Marion from running away with the game through hustle and tough defense.
"Extra effort plays - diving for loose balls, battling on the boards, and
pushing the pace - kept the game close and had Marion on its heels for
much of the night," Pentwater coach Ashley Lubera said.
Brody Austin led the Falcons with a double-double, scoring 11 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Jacobo Martin also had 11 points, and Abram Kieda had nine boards.
