Muskegon County Airport announced Friday that it will provide new seasonal non-stop weekly service to the Orlando Sanford International Airport beginning Saturday, Jan. 9. Tickets will begin going on sale Tuesday, Nov. 10 and will be available directly from Denver Air Connection through its website, denverairconnection.com, and through third-party booking sites. One-way fares will start at $199.
The new route will mark the first time in the airport's history that scheduled commercial airline service has connected Muskegon directly to Florida. Flights will operate every Saturday aboard Denver Air Connection’s 50-seat Embraer ERJ-145 jet.
"This is a historic milestone for MKG and the communities we serve," said Airport Director Ken Efting in a press release. "For the first time, travelers can fly non-stop from Muskegon to one of West Michigan’s most popular destinations, with affordable fares and low baggage fees, free parking, and the convenience of starting your trip close to home. This is exactly the kind of opportunity we've been working toward, and it's a testament to our growing community support and strong partnership with Denver Air Connection."
Orlando Sanford International Airport, according to the release, is well-known for its ease of travel and welcoming atmosphere.
"We've seen tremendous progress in Muskegon, and we're excited to take this next step with the community," said DAC CEO Cliff Honeycutt in the release. "The support we've received from folks along the Lakeshore has really demonstrated the potential of this market. Orlando is a natural destination, and we believe this new service will provide a great opportunity for families and vacationers looking for a convenient, affordable way to travel to Florida."
“For us, this is about more than adding another destination to the departure board,” Efting added in the release. “It's about demonstrating what's possible for a regional airport when people choose to support it. Every passenger who chooses to fly from Muskegon helps make opportunities like this possible. We're grateful to Denver Air Connection, our partners at SFB, and the community that continues to believe in MKG. We intend to keep building on that momentum.”
