After nine years of dedicated service to the Silver Lake Sand Dunes community, Scott Beal, executive director of the Silver Lake Sand Dunes Area Chamber of Commerce & Silver Lake Sand Dunes - Hart Visitors Bureau, has announced his retirement effective Oct. 2, 2026.
Since joining the organization, Scott has been an instrumental leader in supporting local businesses, promoting tourism, and strengthening the Silver Lake Sand Dunes area. Throughout his time he successfully guided the Chamber and Visitors Bureau through periods of growth and change, including the challenges brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic. His leadership, commitment to the community and passion for the region have helped elevate the area's visibility and contribute to its continued success as both a business and tourism destination.
Following Scott's retirement, Kaitlyn Yonker will assume the role of executive director. Kaitlyn started her role in May 2025 as marketing manager and has worked closely alongside Scott to learn every aspect of the organization and its operations. During her time she has played a key role in marketing initiatives, social media coordination, community outreach and event promotion.
Originally from Muskegon, Michigan, Kaitlyn grew up visiting the Silver Lake Sand Dunes area each summer and growing a deep appreciation for the area and everything it has to offer. She earned her degree from Aquinas College, completing her studies in just three years. Kaitlyn looks forward to continuing the Visitor Bureau and Chamber's mission of supporting local businesses, promoting tourism, and strengthening community partnerships throughout the region.
Also as part of the leadership transition, Emily Miles will step into the role of marketing manager. Emily has spent the past three years interning with the Chamber and Visitors Bureau, gaining valuable experience in tourism promotion, marketing, and community engagement. Her familiarity with the organization and passion for the area make her a natural fit for the position.
The Silver Lake Sand Dunes Area Chamber of Commerce & Silver Lake Sand Dunes - Hart Visitors Bureau is excited about this next chapter and remains committed to serving local businesses and visitors while building upon the strong foundation Scott has established.
