Reeths-Puffer golf finishes 3rd at O-K Green midseason meet

Reeths-Puffer finished third at Thursday's O-K Green Conference mid-season tournament, a disappointing result to the players after having taken second in the jamborees to date.
While coach Matt Pallett wasn't necessarily thrilled with the performance either, he was impressed that his team wasn't satisfied with a team score of 358, which was still its second-best 18-hole score of the season.
“Overall, the team didn’t feel great about our performance today," Pallett said. "We just shot our 2nd lowest 18 hole round of the season and they were not happy. It shows that the girls feel we can keep getting better.”
Sophia McCollum took second place overall, shooting a 76. She made a pair of birdies during her round and finished her day with an eagle on the par-5 18th hole.
Olivia Ambler added a 92 for R-P, closely followed by Ella Voorhies with a 93. Kayleigh Brown, playing in her first 18-hole match, rounded out the team scoring with a 97, including a birdie.
"The path to success is not always a straight line," Pallett said. "Golf is a great teacher of that. Some shots, holes and days are definitely better than others. We will work on our weaknesses to improve and work our way towards our team goals.”
