Shelby defeated Holton 2-1 Tuesday in a six-inning tune-up game as both teams prepare for their regional games Saturday.
The
Tigers scored the winning run in the top of the sixth inning when Jayna
Burmeister came across the plate on a Red Devils error. She led off the
inning with a single before Emma Stovall bunted her to second base.
Burmeister
also was responsible for Shelby's first run of the game, ripping a RBI
double to score Gabby LaFever in the third inning after LaFever drew a
leadoff walk.
The junior star had both of Shelby's hits in the
game and got the win in the circle, striking out 11 and allowing four
hits and four walks.
