Shelby and Hart each sent wrestlers to Saturday's Grand Haven girls
invitational, and both teams showed their strength against larger
schools. The Tigers finished 12th out of over 30 schools, and Hart was
15th.
Olivia Casarez had the big highlight for Shelby,
reaching the finals at 105 pounds and finishing in second place. Casarez
pinned each of her first two opponents before falling to Grand Haven's
Sakari Carrington by a tough 4-2 decision in the title match. Also for
the Tigers, April Luna went 3-2 and finished fourth at 125, and Gracie
Parks scored two pins at 125.
For Hart, Elyssa Tanis finished
fourth at 115, going 3-2 with all three wins by pin. Emma Miller also
earned three pin victories and placed fifth at 120.
