Reeths-Puffer golf edges Caledonia, accomplishes goal of top-2 finish in O-K Green

Reeths-Puffer accomplished its goal of finishing in the top two in the O-K Green Conference Thursday, edging Caledonia by one stroke in the finals meet to secure second place in the final league standings.
The Rockets shot a 362, the best round they've shot cumulatively in their last eight trips to The Meadows Golf Course. Seniors Sophia McCollum, Olivia Ambler and Ella Voorhies led the way, each placing in the individual top 10, highlighted by McCollum's medalist honor and score of 76.
“All three of my seniors have been a big part of our continued climb to success in our program," Rockets' coach Matt Pallett said. "All three earned medals today and conference recognition. I couldn’t have asked for a better ending to our conference season.”
McCollum started her round red hot, making birdies on two of her first four holes. She was at even par through 12 holes, and while her pace fell off slightly down the stretch amid wet and rainy conditions, her play was still good enough to earn the top spot.
“Sophia continues to add to her stellar career," Pallett said. "This makes back-to-back years that she finished No. 1 in the conference. Her game is peaking at the right time.”
Voorhies shot a personal best score of 87 for the Rockets, with her big highlight an eagle on the par-4 sixth hole thanks to an impressive drive and clutch putt. It was her first career eagle. Ambler added a 91, with two birdies during her round. Both Rockets picked up honorable mention all-conference recognition at the finals.
Kayleigh Brown closed out R-P scoring with a 108.
