Ross Medical Education Center announced Tuesday that it has been named an Eligible Institution under the Muskegon Area Promise, a community-funded scholarship program administered by the Muskegon Area Promise Zone Authority (MAPZA). Under the partnership, graduates of eligible Muskegon-area high schools — as well as qualifying home school graduates — can direct their Promise Scholarship toward Ross's career training programs.
As a last-dollar scholarship, the Muskegon Area Promise applies after a student has completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and accepted all federal, state, and institutional grants for which they qualify. For eligible Ross students, the Promise covers the student's remaining tuition balance after that aid is applied.
"Medical Assisting and Dental Assisting are in high demand, yet for many students in our area, the cost of training has been the barrier standing between them and a health care career. This partnership with the Muskegon Area Promise removes that barrier and opens the door for more individuals to pursue a career pathway without the debt that often comes with it," said Denise Ackley, Senior Vice President of Financial Aid and Compliance at Ross Education, in a press release.
