HART — Rival Whitehall made Montague sweat for another West Michigan Conference Lakes win Wednesday at Hart, but the Wildcats again came out on top, by four strokes, to keep their perfect league season alive.
The Wildcats posted a score of 185 to Whitehall's 189 to edge the Vikings for the top spot.
Whitehall was the team with the top two finishers in the individual standings, as Riley Shafer shot a 40 and Kelsie McClure added a 43. Shafer opened her round with two pars sandwiched around a birdie, and capped it with another birdie at the end. McClure opened up with a birdie.
Montague's Addi Smith and Brynlee Kessler were right there, each shooting a 45 to finish in a third-place tie. Each made a birdie during their round.
Molly Mulder shot a 46 for Montague, and Marguerite O'Connell had a 49, with both earning top-10 finishes. Mulder, too, scored a birdie.
The Vikings' Avarie Bentz and Ryleigh Hershey rounded out team scoring, each shooting a 53.
