Residents affected by April flooding in Muskegon County can apply for disaster assistance

Muskegon County Emergency Management reminds county residents affected by the April flooding and rainstorms to apply for Federal Emergency Management Agency or Small Business Administration disaster assistance, which recently became available.
Residents may apply for assistance online at DisasterAssistance.gov or through the FEMA app. They can also apply by phone by calling 800-621-3362, or apply in person the Muskegon County Marquette Campus building's West End conference room, located at 1903 Marquette Avenue in Muskegon. The deadline to apply for assistance is Monday, Aug. 31.
Businesses applying for relief funds can do so online at sba.gov/disaster.
When applying for assistance, residents and businesses should have the following information ready: Contact information, including phone number, email, mailing address and address of the damaged home if different than mailing address; Social Security number; annual household income; bank information for direct deposit; home insurance information if applicable; and a general list of damage and losses to the home.
FEMA and SBA cannot duplicate coverage for losses covered by insurance, but may be able to assist with what it does not.
