Shelby's Carter ties for 14th in D-3 state golf finals; Hesperia's Scott 82nd in D-4 finals

Shelby junior golfer Titan Carter finished in a tie for 14th place over the weekend at the Division 3 state finals, played at Bedford Valley Golf Course in Battle Creek. That equaled his finish in the 2025 finals. His two-day score was 83-74-157, only 11 strokes from the top spot.
Carter finished strong, shooting a two-over par 74 on the second day of competition. That was good for a fifth-place tie among all players on day two. He made a birdie and three bogeys in the final round, making par on every other hole.
On Carter's final hole of the day, he made an excellent chip shot that landed just a foot or two from the hole; had it gone in, it would have been his second birdie of the day and moved him into a 12th-place tie overall. As it was, it was an easy tap-in for par to end Carter's season.
"Super proud of his rebound round," Shelby coach Fred Inglis said.
Day one was a tougher day for Carter, as it was for most of the players in the tournament. Consistent rain throughout the day led to higher scores for many of the state qualifiers, and Carter was no exception. However, even amid his struggles Carter played pretty consistent golf; two double bogeys marked his only holes in the round, and in the tournament, on which he shot worse than a bogey.
"The greens at Bedford Valley GC proved to be a worthy opponent," Inglis said after day one.

Hesperia's Scott ends season at state
Hesperia senior Alex Scott capped his high school golf career over the weekend at the Division 4 state finals, played at Michigan State University's Forest Akers West course.
Scott finished in 82nd place out of the 103 qualifiers who completed the tournament, shooting a two-day total of 97-95-192.
Scott battled the Forest Akers West course throughout the tournament but did score a birdie during his second round, on the par-3 first hole. He also totaled seven pars in the tournament.
