ROAD to host election info event Tuesday evening

The nonpartisan group Reviving Our American Democracy will host an event Tuesday, June 23 at 7 p.m. in the Montague City Council chambers in hopes of increasing participation in upcoming Michigan elections. Muskegon County Director of Elections Lori Hayes will be the featured guest.
Hayes will provide sample ballots and a detailed look at the proposals and candidates on the ballot for both the Aug. 4 primary election and the Nov. 3 general election.
The August vote will determine, among other things, who in each party will be running for governor and for one of Michigan’s two Senate seats in Washington, D.C. The November ballot will include those general elections, as well as proposals to open up the state constitution for rewriting and change the role of money in politics.
ROAD is aiming to prepare voters to work their way down what may prove to be a long and possibly two-sided ballot, whether you plan to vote at home (absentee voting) or go in person on election day.
