The White Lake Area Sportfishing Association will host its annual free kids fishing contest Saturday, June 6 at Goodrich Park.
Registration begins at 7 a.m. and lasts until 10; participants may fish as soon as they are registered. Limited fishing equipment is available to borrow on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 7, and live bait will also be provided.
Weigh-ins will begin at 10 a.m. and go until noon; all participants are required to be in line with their catch by noon to be eligible to win age-group prizes. Only one fish will be weighed per participant.
Prizes for placing in the top 10 will be awarded to three age groups for both girls and boys - age 3-6, 7-10 and 11-16. A lunch will also be provided, and each entrant will receive a goodie bag.
Participants may fish anywhere on shore from White Lake Drive to the White River Fishing Bridge, except for on marina docks.
The WLASA said about 175 children participated in the contest last year and it expects a bigger crowd this year.
