Whitehall's Jazwinski sets new 3,200m PR, many area runners compete at Distance Night in Grand Rapids

It was another big night for Whitehall's Bobby Jazwinski at Saturday's Distance Night Under the Lights at Grand Rapids' Houseman Field, as he set a personal best in the 3,200-meter run.
Jazwinski won the race in a time of 9:07.2, which handily surpassed his previous best time of 9:21.5, set last spring at the Grand Rapids Catholic Central Invitational as an unattached runner. (Due to MHSAA transfer rules, Jazwinski was unable to compete for the Vikings last spring.)
Whitehall teammate Scout Freiheit also competed at Distance Night, setting a personal best of 11:09.2 in the 3,200 to finish 131st of the 183 finishers. Freiheit also took 252nd of 386 finishers in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5:10.7.
Reeths-Puffer's Jersi Bilek had a great run in the 800 for the Rocket girls, placing 10th of 196 finishers with a time of 2:21.8.
Reeths-Puffer's Jonathan Visscher placed 159th of 332 runners in the boys' 800-meter run and set a personal best of 2:13.3. Zachary Rought placed 246th and set a personal best (2:23.4). Gabriel Luna placed 246th in the 1,600 and also set a personal best (5:09.5).
Montague had several runners compete at the distance event as well, with many personal bests set. Nolan Kessler had the top Wildcat finish, coming in 53rd in the 1,600 (4:34.99). He was followed by Wesley Mair in 139th (4:50.7) and Caleb Vincent in 366th (6:07.5), both with personal best times. In the 3,200, Mair was 58th with another PR (10:10.3), and Kessler took 67th with a PR of his own (10:14.6). In the 800, Matthew Leatherman set a personal best of 2:09.8 to place 128th, with Brock Hunter in 181st (2:15.5) and Levi Dawson in 277th (2:27.99).
In the girls' event, Erica Hansen set a personal best of 2:49.7 to take 119th in the 800. Teammates Peyton Sweet (178th, 3:13.0), Breanna Berry (181st, 3:17.2) and Willa Van Loon (189th, 3:25.1) also competed, with Berry and Van Loon setting a personal best. Sweet also set a PR of 7:10.9 to take 158th in the 1,600.
