WHITEHALL — Grand Rapids Catholic Central, a top-5 ranked team in
Division 4 in the most recent coaches' association rankings, was too
much for Whitehall Monday afternoon in a dual meet, taking an 8-0 win.
The
Vikings played shorthanded as No. 1 singles player Izzy Gould was out
sick, leading to GRCC taking that match by default. The Cougars won each
of the other seven matches in straight sets.
Whitehall's best
effort by points came at No. 1 doubles, where Avarie Bentz/Braelee
Fogus made Mary Irwin/Arabella Sassano work a bit for a 6-4, 6-3 win.
Whitehall was unable to score more than two points in any other match as
GRCC played dominant tennis.
