Whitehall hung tough with district nemesis Oakridge for the first
four innings of the teams' district semifinal matchup Saturday, but the
Eagles broke through in the fifth and pulled away for an 11-4 win.
The
score was tied 4-4 after a high-scoring first two innings, and stayed
that way through the third and fourth. In the fifth, the Eagles drew
consecutive walks, then banged out a pair of hits to score three times.
They added four more runs in the seventh to secure the win.
Janie
Fagan got Whitehall on the board in the first inning with a RBI double,
and Emily Ames drove her in with a single. The Vikings added two more
runs in the second on groundouts after Toree Carlson's walk and Lillian
Nicholson's single started the inning.
Fagan and Nicholson each got two hits in the game.
