Whitehall golf leads close race for 2nd at Whitehall jamboree; Montague's Flanagan makes an eagle

Whitehall finished second to Ludington in Monday's West Michigan Conference Lakes jamboree at Whitehall, with Montague in fifth place.
The race for second was very tight. Whitehall shot a 163, 15 strokes behind Ludington, but only four shots separated the Vikings and Wildcats; Manistee's score was 164, and Fremont's was 165.
Three local players tied for the No. 5 spot in the individual standings. Michael Flanagan had a 39 for Montague, highlighted by an eagle on the par-4 10th hole. He also had a birdie during his round.
Gabe Gilbert and Jones McDowell each shot a 39 to lead the Vikings, and both made a birdie during their rounds. Gilbert did not do worse than a bogey on any hole.
Also for Whitehall, Finn Novy shot a 42 and William Burger had a 43. Jonah Henderson was the No. 2 scorer for Montague with a 41, followed by David Gowin with a 42 and Ethan Balon and Alexander Hansen each with a 45. Gowin scored a birdie during his round.
