A tough start defensively doomed Whitehall Saturday in the district
semifinals against Spring Lake, as the Vikings lost to the Lakers 14-4
to end their season.
Spring Lake ripped off eight first-inning
runs and never looked back, battering Viking pitching with 12 hits and
eight walks drawn. Brothers Owen and Oliver Smies combined for three
hits and nine RBI for the Lakers.
Justin Jensen got two of Whitehall's four hits and scored twice. Evan Thomas drove in two runs.
