Reeths-Puffer was unable to qualify anyone to the state meet at
Tuesday's Division 1 regional tournament in Traverse City, but the
Rockets had one of their best team days of the season, taking seventh
place with a season-best score of 324.
“The team really had a good day," R-P coach Matt Pallett said. "We scored our best round as a team
today on a very difficult course. I am proud of the way that we ended
our season."
Jordan Benkert delivered his best round of the
year for the Rockets, leading the team in scoring with a 78 - 15th place
overall and only three strokes out of an individual qualifying spot.
Benkert made two birdies during his round.
Kristian Brown
closed out an impressive Rockets' career with a 79, including three
birdies, including two in a row on the course's second and third holes.
Beckitt
Johnson also shot a 79, his career-best score, and made a birdie during
his round. Ian Vokal closed the scoring with an 88, including a birdie
of his own. Beckett Mathes shot a 96 in his final high school round.
"I
am appreciative of all of my seniors," Pallett said, noting Carter
Hekkema joins Mathes and Brown as graduates this year. "They are a lot
of fun to be around and will truly be missed.”
