Montague Farmer's Market again participating in Double Up Food Bucks program; season begins May 9

The Montague Farmer's Market, set for its first Saturday event May 9, announced this week that it will again participate in the Double Up Food Bucks program, administered by Fair Food Network.
The Montague Farmer's Market joins more than 230 other locations across Michigan participating in Double Up – making fresh, Michigan-grown fruits and vegetables more within reach of families using Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.
Double Up Food Bucks is designed to incentivize the purchase of fresh fruits and vegetables for individuals and families using SNAP benefits. By using their Michigan Bridge/SNAP cards at participating farmers markets like the Montague Farmers Market, SNAP recipients can increase their purchasing power, receiving a dollar-for-dollar match on fresh fruit and vegetable purchases, up to $50 per day.
Michigan Bridge/SNAP and Double Up Food Bucks tokens for the Montague Farmer's Market are available during regular business hours at Montague City Hall and at the market on Saturdays. The Montague Farmer's Market is open Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., May 9 through Oct. 31, at 4511 Church Street in Montague.
In addition to offering Double Up Food Bucks, the Montague Farmer's Market offers Senior Market Vouchers supporting healthier food access for senior residents of participating municipalities. Senior residents, age 60 and up, that live within the City of Montague, White River Township, and Fruitland Township are eligible for the vouchers.
The funds for this program are made possible through the Muskegon County Senior Millage, which was renewed on the Aug. 6, 2024 ballot. City of Montague vouchers will be available to residents at the Montague Farmer's Market starting June 27. The vouchers will not be available at Montague City Hall but will be issued at the farmer's market cottage on the following dates: June 27, July 11, July 25, Aug. 8, Aug. 22, Sept. 12, and Sept. 26.
City of Montague residents are eligible to receive vouchers once a month for June, July, August, and September.
