MONTAGUE — With the school year drawing to a close, Montague High School students gathered in the school auditorium for the results of the Ride with Pride gift drawing. Three tables were filled with piles of prizes, including sports equipment, legos, electronics, fishing gear, and gift cards, with perhaps the most coveted of all being a used Ford sedan donated by Twin Cities Auto.
Ride with Pride is an annual event that partners with local schools, law enforcement and businesses to reward students for making safe and positive choices throughout the year. Signing the Ride with Pride pledge makes them eligible to enter the drawing list, with the added requirement of a driver’s license necessary to participate in the car prize drawing.
Five student names were drawn for the car before the event continued outside in the parking lot, where finalists opened their numbered bags to see if they were the lucky winner. Junior Arianna Mueller chose bag number 3, which held the keys to her new car, and she was responsible enough to make sure to ask School Resource Officer Dan Dice for the vehicle's registration before taking it home.
Arianna was not the only student to win big, with several of her classmates receiving big-ticket items such as a TV, minifridge, kayak, Apple products, coffee makers and even a $1,000 scholarship from Lakeshore Chrysler, won by Madeline Myers. All the prizes were donated by local businesses, with Meijer providing $1,000 in gift cards for Montague students to purchase plenty of goodies, enough to entice any student to follow their Ride with Pride pledge.
In addition to Montague winners, many Whitehall students won gift cards and prizes donated by local businesses at the Vikings' own Ride with Pride assembly also held Friday, with Noah Morse being awarded a 2026 GMC e-bike.
