LeaTrea pitches strong game 1 in Whitehall's doubleheader split with Shelby

Whitehall split a doubleheader with Shelby Wednesday in non-conference action, taking a 3-1 win before falling 9-7 in game two.
Viking pitcher Beth LeaTrea outdueled Shelby star Jayna Burmeister in a tough game one that saw the two teams get only seven total hits. Whitehall made the most of its three hits, though, and scored once each in the first three innings.
LeaTrea allowed no earned runs on four hits and struck out six in the circle. Janie Fagan scored twice.
The Vikes led 5-4 after two innings in game two, but Shelby tied it in the third and went ahead for good in the fifth. Fagan got two hits, and LeaTrea allowed three earned runs, striking out five.
