Whitehall track teams have solid day at Allegan meet; Mendoza earns EQ to state finals in high jump

Whitehall's teams held their own Friday at the Allegan Invitational, with the Viking boys finishing fourth out of 15 scoring teams while the girls' team was 10th of 16 scoring teams.
Ayden Mendoza and Graysen Olstrom were the Viking boys' standouts, each coming up with individual wins. Mendoza won the high jump with a leap of 6-6, and Olstrom posted a 13-0 in pole vault to take the win. Mendoza's 6-6 additionally earned him an early qualification to the state meet in that event, as the Allegan meet qualified for EQ status.
Whitehall also got a victory in the 3,200-meter relay, where the team of Javi LeBlanc, Evan Jud, Jevon Hilliard and Rex Pumford ran to a time of 8:21.7.
The Vikings added a few third-place finishes as well. Caden Bowyer was third in discus (145-5) and in shot put (44-1), and Isaiah Lewis took third in pole vault (12-0). LeBlanc was third in the 1,600 meters, setting a personal best time (4:32.9).
Aaliyah Jamison led the Viking girls with an impressive win in shot put, where she posted a mark of 33-5. Jamison also took third in discus with a throw of 89-4.
