Whitehall knocked off Muskegon Catholic Tuesday afternoon, 7-1, thanks in part to three victories by default.
The
visiting Crusaders did not have players for the No. 3 or No. 4 singles
flight or the No. 4 doubles flight, giving the Vikings victories at
those spots.
However, the flights that did play also saw
impressive efforts from Whitehall. The Vikings won all three doubles
matches that were played, with Bea Lewis/Addie Broton and Emily
VanDam/Nora Grey picking up straight-set wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles
respectively. Avarie Bentz/Braelee Fogus won at No. 1 doubles in the
day's only three-set match, edging Alani Poort/Molly Caughey 3-6, 6-4,
10-6.
In singles play, Akeelah Martin won in straight sets at No. 2 singles, rounding out the Vikings' individual victories.
