Whitehall softball goes 1-1 at Hamilton tournament

Whitehall split its two games at Saturday's Hamilton tournament, defeating Holland Christian 17-6 before falling to Hamilton 17-2.
The Vikings got out to a great offensive start against the Maroons, scoring nine times in the first three innings and pulling away for the win. Timely hits and patience at the plate - Whitehall drew nine walks - propelled the team to victory.
Emily Hawkins got four hits for Whitehall in the win, and Kayden Johnson had three, scoring four times. Ryleigh Smith also had three hits, driving in three runs and scoring three more. Johnson doubled twice, and Hawkins had a double too. Janie Fagan and Jersie Peterson had two hits each, and Peyton Schultz got a hit and walked three times. Beth LeaTrea got the win, striking out eight.
Hamilton piled on the Vikings in their second game, scoring 10 times in the first inning and rolling to the three-inning mercy rule win. The Vikes had three hits as a team, and Johnson scored twice. Smith drew two walks.
