Whitehall boys track dominates at Manistee Tri; Montague ekes out girls win over Whitehall

In a very close Manistee Tri Tuesday, Montague edged rival Whitehall 68-63. The Wildcats fell 68-64 to Manistee and the Viking girls and Manistee tied, 65-65.
The Whitehall boys team dominated the tri, routing both Manistee and Montague by respective scores of 111-26 and 116-21. Montague defeated Manistee 77-56.
The Viking boys won 15 of the 17 events contested, with Bobby Jazwinski and Tim Vieira each recording a pair of individual wins. Jazwinski posted times of 4:29.98 in the 1,600 and 9:30.9 in the 3,200, easily outpacing the competition. Vieira picked up wins in both sprint events, setting personal bests in both. His times were 11.99 seconds in the 100 and 23.69 in the 200.
Single individual wins for Whitehall came from Rex Pumford in the 400 (a personal best 54.49); Evan Jud in the 800 (a personal best 2:06.5); Corde Anderson in the 110 hurdles (15.88); Judd Musk in the 300 hurdles (46.84); Caden Bowyer in discus (a personal best 156-6); Ayden Mendoza in high jump (6-6); Graysen Olstrom in pole vault (13-0); and Cole Essebaggers in long jump (20-1).
The Viking boys also won three relays. The 400 team consisted of Anderson, Essebaggers, Mendoza and Vieira (45.73), and the 1,600 team was Javi LeBlanc, Jevon Hilliard, Pumford and Vieira (3:43.8). The 3,200 team was Hilliard, LeBlanc, Pumford and Jazwinski (8:40.4).
Isaac French earned Montague's only win of the tri, taking first in the shot put (46-4.5).
In the girls' tri, Montague racked up some key points in the sprint relays, winning both of them. The Wildcat team of Celina Pruitt, Lillith Decker, Cadence Fox and Nora Wacholz won the 400 relay (59.27), and the team of Jenna Erickson, Gentry Knop, Annelyse Schneider and Addi Smith won the 800 (1:58.7). Gabby Dietz added a win for Montague in the 300 hurdles with a time of 58.63 seconds.
Gabrielle Chevez won three individual events and helped the Vikes win a fourth on the girls' side. Chevez took the win in all three distance events, including in the 3,200 (14:55.9). She also won the 800 (2:49.9) and the 1,600 (6:33.9). Chevez also joined Kassidy Parmley, Giselle Burbridge and Lily Britton for the win in the 3,200 relay (12:50.0). Burbridge added a win for the Vikes in long jump and set a personal best (14-8).
