Reeths-Puffer brought home first place at Saturday's Fruitport
Invitational, tying with Ludington for the top spot. Whitehall finished
fourth, just two points behind the host Trojans for third.
Hope
Latsch and Molly Matz fueled the Rockets' win, with flight
championships at No. 2 and No. 3 singles respectively. Latsch edged the
Orioles' Sawyer Hendrickson in the finals, 5-7, 7-6(5), 10-3, in what
proved to be a pivotal match for the Rockets. Matz rolled to three
straight-set wins in the tournament.
Olivia Smith finished second for the Rockets at No. 1 singles, and Kaitlyn Durow was third at No. 4 singles.

also got a big boost from their doubles flights. Makayla Smith/Ava
Dietz finished second at No. 1 doubles, and Leah Shaver/Annalise Griffin
did the same at No. 4 doubles. Kayleigh Brown/Lauren Slater and Brylee
Gifford/Jayla Brink placed third at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles
respectively.
The Vikings didn't get any flight titles, but
did put three flights in the finals on the way to second-place finishes.
Akeelah Martin and Riley Shafer took second at No. 2 and No. 3 singles
respectively, and Emily VanDam/Nora Gray did the same at No. 3 doubles.
At
No. 1 doubles, Avarie Bentz/Braelee Fogus finished third, going 2-1 on
the day, and narrowly missed a potential title. They dominated the first
set against eventual champs Kristi Killips/Ella Micka of Ludington in
the semifinals before dropping a tight second set and falling in a
third-set tiebreaker, 1-6, 7-5, 10-5.
